Pterodactyls were flying reptiles that lived during the late Jurassic period, around 150 million years ago. They were part of a group called pterosaurs and were among the first vertebrates to achieve powered flight. With their long wingspans and lightweight bodies, pterodactyls soared through prehistoric skies, hunting for fish and other small animals.
