The leaf sheep, or Costasiella kuroshimae, is a small sea slug known for its unique appearance resembling a cartoon sheep covered in leafy greens. This marine creature, found in shallow waters near Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, is notable for its ability to perform photosynthesis by incorporating chloroplasts from the algae it consumes into its own cells, a process called kleptoplasty. This fascinating adaptation allows the leaf sheep to derive energy from sunlight, much like a plant.
